POEM BY LYNNELLE HARRELL

 NEW

I don't know when it happened but something inside of me changed

I used to dislike the person I was, felt burdened down locked in chains
I used to take in the lies believing every line from the devil and his wrecking crew
but something happened, my eyes open, my heart healed words of life fed to me now I am new
I don't know when it happened, actually maybe when you spoke words of truth to me
yeah you probably don't remember but you took the time to listen and allowed me to be
your words literally saved my life, how close I felt like giving up I didn't know how I would make it through
I felt his fire burning inside of me when you spoke reminding me don't give up I was right at my breakthrough, alas I am new
I wish I could really explain this feeling, no it's not merely a feeling, this transformation happening inside
my head no longer down, my eyes fixed straight ahead, my ears deaf to the lies of the enemy and my confidence in Him, my guide
I love me the person inside and outside how beautiful and uniquely he crafted so carefully me to be, His will I will do
I love me, this new me, this me who knows who and whose I am. I don't know when it happened but alas I am new

Authentic or Knock-Off?

What if you bought something just to find out later that it is a knock-off (fake/counterfeit)? You would be upset wouldn’t you? I know I would. Someone deceiving you into believing it was the real thing. Well every spiritual message isn’t the gospel. It could be a knock-off. Unless you are discerning what was said you wouldn’t know it. That why it’s called knock-off, because it appear to be the real thing but actually isn’t. Some people wouldn’t mind knock-off. Why settle for a knockoff when you can have the real thing? I wonder what someone would do if they were asked if what they’re preaching is a knock-off sermon.

Galatians 1:6-11
6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

Colossians 2:8
8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the principles of the world, and not after Christ.

Hebrews 4:12
12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

CREATION’S PRAISE: HOW GREAT THOU ART Very early one morning, while studying on my front porch, I knew a-fresh what the hymn writer felt when he penned the words to How Great Thou Art, when he sings, O Lord my God, when I am in awesome wonder, Thou power throughout the universe displayed. Just sitting quietly and reflectively, I beheld the splendor and majesty of God as all nature began to greet the new day, and in my mind, give praises to the Creator.  I saw the glory of the sunrise as its rays shined through the tall pines while at the same time, hearing the different sounds of birds chirping, a squirrel scampering up a tree, and a rabbit scurrying across the lawn.  There was a peace and beauty to the naturalness of all the creatures of nature in rising, singing and proclaiming praises.  I was mindful of an orchestra, the different sounds blending in with the occasional tat-a-tat-tat of a woodpecker adding his own bass to the melody unfolding in God’s vast universe.  I just sat there, amazed as Psalm 148 came to life before my eyes, when all creation,.. sun and moon, stars, great creatures, fruitful trees, cedars, beasts and cattles.. all, are commanded to praise the LORD.  There was harmony in the various sounds, some louder, some more subdued but all seemed to be praising in their own unique way. The lesson I received  was that God is worthy of praise, that even the creatures of the field know this and praise without encouragement, without prompting, without scolding; they just know that this honor is due the Creator. Although I am created in His image, I was being taught the naturalness and beauty of praise by His creations of nature. Just as they, we are the created and the created must praise the Creator.  There is something within us that at some time, feels the urge to burst forth in praise and adoration of our God our Creator, Elohim and sing with renewed spirit, Then sings my soul, my savior God to Thee; How great Thou art; How great Thou art.                                                                                                          Dr. Owens
Coffee
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups made of:

Porcelain
Plastic
Glass
Crystal
Some ordinary looking
Some expensive
Some exquisite

He told them to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in their hands, the professor said:

"If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap looking ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and worse, you were eyeing each other's cups.

Now if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Some times, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."
